In a bit of a weird mood tonight, and planning some word-heavy posts in the near future, so I thought I’d finally get around to posting pictures of some of the craziness Mitu and I got up to a few weeks ago. She’s supposed to be in charge of the ceramic report, so I’m going to take our visit to the Boo Rochman Memorial Park. It’s a very well-kept secret (they don’t even have a real website, for shame!) not too far from where Mitu is. We actually discovered it by accident on our way to the site of the ceramic debacle, and determined that we had to go.
The story behind it is sort of sad, but the park itself is the best thing ever. Seriously. It’s like the Ren Faire, except you actually get to climb all over everything. And there are tunnels. And bridges. And staircases and ladders and dungeons and towers and it’s all covered in SHINY. And we got lost at least five times trying to make our way through the whole castle.
Yup, you heard me, the castle. The BEST (wooden) CASTLE EVER. Like, as complicated and as much fun to explore as some of the real ones I visited in Wales (which is full of the BEST (real) CASTLES EVER. Hmm, I should do a post on some of my favorite Welsh castles…). Also the giant dragon. And a whole bunch of other fun stuff.
Since I am utterly incapable of doing this place justice, I’ll let the pictures do the talking. Here is a small sample of the many pictures we took that day (while discussing lovebirds and bees, among other things, in Spanish. Because we’re cool like that). And if you’re ever in Southern Illinois, make sure you find an excuse to swing by and visit the park!
